3 Kiwis

Everyone should be very familiar with green
kiwis by now, and most people have heard of
gold kiwis as well I think...but red kiwis? This
was something new for me last week...since
kiwi (gold in particular) is a favorite of mine, I
couldn't resist trying the new variety on the
shelves of E-Mart. Pricey, but so worth it for
the ultra-smooth, gold-kiwi-dipped-in-sweetened-
condensed-milk taste and the firm jelly texture.
If these things are natural, then thank you God
for making my life so wonderful. And if they are
hybrids, then thank you God for making someone
as talented as whoever thought these amazing
fruit up!!

Hiroshima Peace Park

Looking down over the Hiroshima Peace Park
from the observation deck of the Atomic Bomb
Rememberance Museum. The building just
behind and to the left of the arch is the last
remaining building from the bombing - it was
the prefecture agricultural marketing office.
An incredibly difficult but powerful destination.

Seriously Bad Day

When things get ugly, relish the
knowledge that you are likely never
to have as bad a day as these poor
sharks...Jagalchi Fish Market, Busan,

Feeling Fishy

One of my favorite things to do in Korea is wander
the local fish markets (I live near the coast, so there
are plenty to wander). I'm always torn between
horror at the sheer number of creatures that have
been removed from the ocean (how are there any
fish left at all out there?! is a constant thought...)
and wonder at how seriously cool everything is.
These shots were all taken on a recent outing with
my parents to the monstrous Jagalchi Fish Market
in Busan...dried shrimp, fresh squid, something
unfortunate on a hook, live tiger prawns and clams.

Japanese Market Food

Yummy! Chocolate-covered frozen bananas, my favorite! Or is the takoyaki this family is eating my favorite? Or is it the deep-fried
sweet potato? So many choices... Kyoto Tenmangu Shrine 25-day market, October 25, 2008.
